Hard Gainers!

Okay the video is just to back up what I'm about to say. I struggled to gain weight my whole life. When I graduated high school, I weighed 114 lbs. I was constantly eating and lifting weights, but I never got bigger. When I met my wife, I was 21 years old and still only 118 lbs. I was always the smallest guy in the room, and I had no confidence at all.
When I was 22 I got a job as a towel boy in a gym and one of the perks was a free membership. So I started asking all the trainers what to do and what to eat. They all said the same thing. Lift heavy and eat a lot. I was lifting like a pro and eating almost 6000 calories a day. Still no weight. At one point I switched to chicken thighs, rice, and steamed veggies 6 times a day and I LOST weight.
I'm 30 something now and a comfortable 167 lbs at around 12% body fat. I finally cracked the code and I feel like an idiot for not figuring it out sooner. I was eating more food than the rest of my family combined, but I was still extremely active. My metabolism was through the roof. I went back to eating whatever I wanted, but reduced my physical activities. I realized that it doesn't matter how much you eat if you're still extremely active. If you eat a lot and cant gain weight, then you need to reduce your physical activities throughout the day. I'm eating the same amount of food, but I cut my workouts down drastically, and I even make it a point to lounge around during the day. I'm still building muscle but I try to only do one exercise per body part, and pre-exhaust the muscle before each heavier set. I also don't lift as heavy as I used to.
I start with a pre-exhaustion set, usually with bands or cables to get blood into the muscle, then go straight into a working set with free weights for a total of 4-5 sets. In doing so, Im still stressing the muscle enough to make it grow, but keeping the workout short in order to keep from burning too many calories. And so far I've gained almost 30 lbs just in the last 2 months. So Lee Priest was right. Its not rocket science. Just eat food and train. But remember, if you're eating a ton of food and not gaining weight, slow down and try not to burn as much energy throughout the day. That's what worked for me, and hopefully it'll work for you.

Vegan Muscle

So you want to build muscle on a vegan diet. Is it possible?...Yes! Tons of pro bodybuilders are switching to veganism and they're loving it. Kai Greene is a perfect example. Even the legend himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger says he's vegan now. And they all say the same thing. Everyone wants to be as strong as an ox or built like a gorilla. But they both eat plants!
There is a way to be vegan, and still build muscle. Simon Black is living proof. If you want to hear it directly from him, click here

Calum Von Leg Day

Cal is finally training legs again, but getting into trouble as usual. No official explanation for the stitches in his fingers, but he implies that it may have been from fisticuffs.

Axe & Sledge Supplements

So I recently started using some Axe & Sledge products and I have to say, Seth Feroce wasn't lying about the quality of the ingredients. I've tried all different supplements from dozens of manufacturers and most of them are over priced and fall short of their claims. NOT THESE! I started with the men's daily supplement Manpower. From what I can tell, its mostly a mens multivitamin that also works as a natural test booster. Next is Hydraulic. It's a pre-workout with a nitric oxide booster. I know this stuff works because I get a tingling feeling in my face and hands about 10 minutes after taking it. It opens up the blood vessels and pushes more oxygen through. I definitely noticed less heavy breathing during intense training. Then I went with Demoday and The Grind. I switch back and forth between the two as an intra-workout. Last is FarmFed. The best protein powder I've ever had. It tastes great, mixes easily, and doesn't leave you feeling bloated. If you're interested in trying some things out, just Click Here

One fan's opinion

According to one fan (now ex fan), who believes his opinion matters somehow, Lee Priest has ruined his body by following a trend and getting tattoos. As usual, the outspoken, well spoken, quick witted IFBB pro shut him down in style. Warning, if you're easily offended, put your earmuffs on!

CBUM vacuum pose

Many have tried to explain the vacuum pose,  but Chris nailed it. I can already feel a change after 60 seconds.

Seth is back!

Recently Seth Feroce has been building a gymnastics arena for his community and he's been pretty busy with it. As he says, "I got no problems, I just have work to do!" Now, in his last video he ranted about steroids and how quickly people point the finger and how they talk shit when a known user passes away. It was an emotional video but a side of seth I dont like. However, in this video he's back to training and as usual,  everything he says makes sense. So listen, learn, and enjoy!

Kai Greene

So anyone who has an interest in building muscle, knows who Kai Greene is. I've followed him for years and I've always known him to be a quiet and reserved man. However, in this video he opens up with tons of energy and a fantastic sense of humor. He's promoting his new gym shoes, and I couldn't be happier for him.

gym shoes

So i have an old pair of Avia training shoes that i wear for working out. They're super comfortable and they don't slide around when doing legs. If you've read my other posts you know I have a problem with shoes when it comes to calf raises. When you go up on your toes, they crease and that's where most shoes start to break down. Well my Avia's held up great. But they're getting old. So I got on Amazon and ordered a new pair. Wow, these things are comfortable. The ones I got are called Avi-Rift. They're light and have memory foam insoles. Plus the tread grips really good. Can't say enough good things about them. If interested, Click Here

Calum Von Big Arms

Some tricep training with Cal today. Still cant believe how fast he's come back and how much size he's put back on. Plus the guy is vascular as hell. Great genetics.

Chris Bumstead chest for prep

10 weeks out for Olympia and I noticed his rep speed has slowed down a lot. I personally have to start my first few sets very slow otherwise I cant activate the muscle properly. Especially when working chest. If I rush into it I end up working my shoulders more than anything. So remember, start slow, deep stretch until you really feel the muscle activate, then move some weight!

Back Von Moger

Calum is making a rapid comeback and is answering questions. Today's question is "how do you balance fitness and life". Personally I think that's a stupid question. For someone like calum, fitness IS life. Afterward he finishes up with a back workout.

Seth Feroce being Seth

Promoting his apparel. AAR (All American Roughneck. Also his new line HWMF (Hard Workin Mother Fucker). Gotta love his no bullshit attitude. I don't have problems, I just have work to do!

Chris Bumstead Chest

So Chris hasn't been throwing extremely heavy weights around, but whatever he's doing, is working! Today he has his hilarious sister Melissa filming for him. She tears him apart and pushes him harder. Chris finishes with an epic pose down. Absolutely one of my favorite videos.

Calum Von Moger

So Cal shaved his beard. Disappointing but not huge news. What is huge, is the mass he's gained since he was given the all clear to train heavy again. He lost a lot of size after his injuries, but holy balls has he put it back on fast. Plus he doesn't seem to be training more than an hour at a time. Quick size, quick recovery, hardly any time in the gym? Sounds unnatural to me, but I'm still a huge fan

Seth Feroce ranting

Lee Priest Comeback

A few years ago Lee was in a car accident. No serious muscle or bone damage, but he did suffer a crushed nerve in his neck which limits mobility and prevents him from getting a pump on one side of his upper body. Obviously symmetry is a crucial component in bodybuilding, and if one side is bigger, he'll lose several points. However he's asked fans if he should have a controversial surgery that could free up the nerve. Also, assuming the surgery is a success, he's asked the fans if he should compete again. Personally, at 46 years old, I think the man definitely has what it takes to bring home several more titles if he steps back on stage. What do you guys think?

What is NOOM?

What is noom? Noom is the newest weight loss program out there. It's rapidly becoming one of the most successful programs on the market, and already has a massive following. So how is noom different from other programs? Well it's so much more than just a P90X, or insanity, or any other DVD box set that you can get off of Amazon or some infomercial. It's an organization. It's a lifestyle. It's a membership to a huge group of people who all want the same thing. To look and feel better. If that sounds like you, then Click Here to check it out and do a quick FREE body analysis to find out the fastest way to get from where you are to where you want to be

Look Good Naked

So most of us aren't planning on competing in fitness shows. We just want to look good naked. The problem is you have to train like a beast to look like a beauty. Unless you just have great genetics. In which case...I hate you. But for most of us, the question is, where to start. Well the answer is....calories. start by counting your calories and make sure you burn more than you consume. Its actually really simple. Also eating 5-6 smaller meals a day, instead of 3 big meals, will help boost your metabolism. Once you start seeing results, I guarantee you'll have more energy to start training. So start there. Eat right, walk when you can, take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Seth Feroce

For those of you who don't know, Seth Feroce is an IFBB pro bodybuilder. In this video he goes through a monster shoulder workout. What most people don't realize is that your shoulders play a huge part in filling out your shirt sleeves. Boulder shoulders are definitely a positive move. The reason I follow seth is  because not only does he obviously know what he's doing, he breaks down the small things like hand position, and explains in detail what to do and why. And yes he's on steroids, he openly admits it. But steroids dont grow muscle by themselves. Kicking ass in the gym does. Steroids just help

Adidas Neo Review

So I did a review on Adidas Neo Hightop Basketball shoes and the file was too big to upload here so I had to upload it to YouTube. Anyway, if you can afford to buy new ones every 6 months, I'd say do it because they're so comfortable. Click here if you're interested in them. As far as the neo skool, they're not available on Amazon anymore but the current equivalent is the Daily, or Super Daily. Click here to check them out. And finally for the Avia's, because the ones I showed are so old, they don't make them anymore. However I did find a new model I like and you can check them out HERE

Gym shoes

If you're looking for the perfect pair of gym shoes, they're right here. Adidas cloudfoam technology makes these the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. It really is like walking on clouds. AND, they dont compress down and flatten out like certain insoles I've tried. Best of all my lower back feels 10 times better! Click here to get yourself a pair. You won't regret it

Try it before you buy it

So I recently watched a video of Calum Von Moger grocery shopping, and he said something that rang in my ears. Tri it before you bi it. He said this while pointing to his triceps first, then biceps. It made perfect sense. Most people don't realize that your triceps make up 2/3 of your arm size. Most people also don't realize that their tri's are usually lacking. So from now on, start with tri's while you have the energy. Then do your bi's. Tri it before you bi it! You'll definitely notice a difference!

Belly fat 2

Ok so I actually tried this Jillian Michaels program and as you can see my stomach is flatter and my abs are more defined. Yes my before picture is crappy but you can still tell. Anyway, definitely worth it. Kills belly fat and strengthens the core. Click here if you think you can handle it. Jillian kicked my ass

PreWorkout

Kickin it old school. I've used this many times in the past and it definitely works. I got great pumps and stayed full all day. I believe it does have caffeine but I think they also make a stimulant free version. Plus it tastes good. Click here to check it out

Who do I follow?

So these are the main guys I've been following. Top to bottom we have Calum Von Moger, Chris Bumstead, Seth Feroce, and the legendary Lee Priest. I call him legendary because he's old school, unfiltered, and doesn't give a shit if you like him or not. He was also given the title of greatest arms in the history of bodybuilding. Check them out on YouTube. Chris is super nice and very informative. Cal is a joker but takes training very seriously. Seth is down to earth, straight forward, and explains how and why in all his workout videos

Sorry for leaving!

So I've been gone for quite a while and I'd like to apologize to anyone who was actually following this blog. Shit came up, got busy with family, work drama, etc. Anyway I'm back and I'm going to try and post better content!
